RTC Riding Update 28th November 2013

All rides leave at 6am this week so please be at Coffee Club   North Lakes by 5.50am, ready to leave at 6am. For those new to the club, we   then come back to Coffee Club & enjoy a social chat & coffee (after   the run off the bike of course!)SAFETY FIRST – please remember to obey all road rules, including stopping at   red lights & stop signs. The penalty for not obeying road rules is 20   push ups – which must be performed when you get back to the coffee club. I   ask all ride leaders & everyone on the ride to take this seriously. The   positive recognition for doing the right thing is we all enjoy our rides more   and motorists are more pleasant towards us !!

RIDE C (mod distance, ave speed 28-32k/hr) – normal Sandgate loop, approx 70ks

RIDE D (mod distance, ave speed 25-28k/hr) – normal Sandgate loop, home via Elizabeth Ave. Approx 50-60ks   ***Note: this group is designed for those who are stepping up from the beginner group, not for faster riders***

JUNIORS – out Old Northern Rd, Enogerra, Kedron, Nudgee Beach, approx           80ks

  • your        Saturday ride is an LSD (long steady/slow distance) ride – it isn’t        meant to be high intensity (unless you are required to do efforts or a        fast TT)
  • for        the adults, we will program for most to have a recovery week the same        week, so if you have something different on your program, you may need        to do part of the ride with us and part by yourself

GOOD LUCK   to those racing this weekend . . . Bribie, Kingscliff, ?? anywhere else?

SPEEDY   recovery wishes to Pete Holgate, who had to have another operation on his hand after the accident he had on Noosa hill earlier in the year . . . he sent me a photo of his hand, nice zig zag stitches Pete (and no, it wasn’t from a bad surgeon!)

THANKS   to everyone who supported us last weekend at the Bravehearts Time Trial –   both on the day and in helping us fundraise before the event. Over $126,000 was raised for Bravehearts to help protect children. It was a tough event but a fun day, hopefully more will join us next year

BBQ TRAILER   – is almost complete . . . don’t forget it is available for anyone to use as a fundraiser at our local races from next year . . . if you would like to use it, please email James on president@redcliffetriclub.com.   All you have to do is arrange to purchase drinks, sausages & bread, and   bring along a few helpers (or ask other club members to help you)

XMAS PARTY   – the next big date on our calendar is fast approaching . . . Sunday 8th Dec, from 12noon at Pirate   Park, Scarborough. BBQ (sausages, steak, vegie patties, onions, bread) &   soft drinks will be supplied by the club (thanks to everyone’s help in   pulling down Bribie transitions)…thanks to those who have offered to bring   nibblies or dessert…it’s going to be a feast!! Games will be happening…suggestions   taken! Please RSVP on RTC Social Page on Facebook or by emailing me at julesdillon@bigpond.com.
