Usually this is a just over 200km round trip that has been designed as a group ride to challenge you to go that distance. It is held in the Christmas holidays while everyone has time to spend the day on their bikes and the following day recovering their body. As it was rained out this year and we will be out of Sundays before the year starts in earnest, we will be doing a different challenge this Sunday and incorporating our Mooloolaba Swim and Run into it. To be involved you have 3 options:

1. Leave the Coffee Club at North lakes at 4.30 am for a group cycle up to Mooloolaba via Beerburrum Rd / Steve Irwin Way (85km). Up there you will meet up at Loo With a View for a swim. Once finished re-group to cycle home again. Total 170km

2. Leave the CC at NL as per the 1st group. Up at Mooloolaba you will do the swim +/- a run (8-15km) and get a lift back (arranged yourself)

3. Drive up and Meet at the Loo With a View (Mooloolaba) at either 7am or 8am (or both) for a swim +/- run

You will need to provide your own transport home if you are only cycling 1 way. You will also need to provide your own snacks / drinks as we will likely NOT have a sag wagon but we will have a car that will meet us up there that you can put your gear and extra nutrition in, in the morning.

As we have reduced each leg to 85k we are hoping that a few more will take the challenge and cycle at least one way. Be aware though that you need to feel confident with cars around you on Steve Irwin Way and are able to ride single file keeping to the left hand side of the road.

We anticipate the slowest riders will ride at approx. 27kph with an average of 25kph and the faster riders will be 32+ kph. Please be aware though that this is a group ride more than an individual training session. If you feel you may need to start a little bit earlier please let me know and we can arrange something.

Once again we need an idea of how many are coming. If you can let me know at or via text 0409 002 082 or fb or the RTC fb home page by Saturday lunchtime and keep an eye on fb for any last minute changes. Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us again for this.
