Weekly Update

Hi all,

I hope you had a fantastic Easter break – How good was the weather for the entire 4 days.  Amazing.  And again we have another 3 day weekend for Anzac Day.  We have a number of service and ex-service men and women in our tri club so for some this weekend is even more memorable.  While it may sound corny we do appreciate the work that you have done, and for a few including a number of our recent juniors, the work you are still doing.  Thankyou.

It was a relatively quiet weekend last weekend and I’m not sure about any racing that was on except for the regular Park Runs.  On the Saturday we did the annual Easter ride that involved chocolate and taking photos and for some, more of the former and less of the later.  Numbers were well down on usual however those of us there did have a good time and there are some ‘lovely’ photos on fb.  Well done to Louise’s group for even involving randoms in their photography exploits.  Nice photos ladies.

This weekend is the Noosa festival and there are a number of RTC athletes heading up to do the swim, cycle or run that is part of the festival.  Good luck everyone that is racing.  If you are just going up for the Saturday swim and want to car pool, check fb for a message from Philly on the RTC social page or email me for details.

There is a brick session this Sunday morning and because we have our club duathlon in 6 ½ weeks time we are going to participate in the Bug Ride at Lakeside to get us ready for the race. What is this Bug Ride you may ask.  Let me tell you.   On the 4th Sunday morning of every month Lakeside Motor Racing circuit is open to cyclists (and not to cars) to ride around between 6.30am and 8am.  This will be a good chance for us to practice going over the course and working out how to ride the hills (yes there are hills), best gearing etc.  That way when the race comes on the 14th June you will know the course and you will be able to smash it (or at least enjoy it).

Meet at the old Hamilton Wheeler Shed at 6.30am ready to ride.  For those who have never been there before Lakeside Drive is off Narangba Rd (the golf club is on the corner).  Turn into Lakeside Drive and go all the way to the end.  Turn right at the end and enter.  Just before you get to the track turn left and head up the gravel track over the little hill (mound) and you will see the building on the right.  Meet outside the building.  No cost.  Keep an eye on fb in case there are any last minute changes.  Any questions just let me know.

Mark remains on holidays and will be away until Monday 28 April.

Gai will be continuing on with run sessions for Mark’s group and those wanting to prepare for the upcoming Cross Country school season for the following dates –

Satuday 26 April – Coffee Club Ride – North Lakes.  This is NOT an organised junior ride and you will be riding with the adults. For younger juniors, you will need to have a parent attending to ride with you.
