Weekly Update 21st August

The beautiful sunrises and sunsets continue and those of us up early are blessed to see them.  If you haven’t been getting up, take the time to see the sunrise one morning this week.  I guarantee you will love it.  Now onto the news.

YEPPOON 70.3
Congrats to Fiona M, Dan M, Clinton M and Jane H who raced at Yeppoon on the weekend.  It sounds like a hot and windy day out on the course and these four came and conquered.  Both girls finished top 10 and Dan qualified for the 70.3 World Champs later this year in Hawaii.  Great work everyone.

OTHER RACES
Congrats also to everyone who competed in Tough Mudder, TLC Fun Run, Lake Manchester trails and the TQ Jets Trials that were held on the weekend.  Great racing from everyone and I believe all the Tough Mudder people are still extracting mud from their hair and their ears.  Sounds like a fantastic, muddy day on the course.

CHANGES TO TRAINING THIS WEEK

6PM WED RUN HAS MOVED TO A NEW VENUE
For the next few weeks this run session will be held in the estate just near Poo Hill.  For the uninitiated this is on the corner of Dohles Rocks Rd and Russell St at Murrumba Downs (just up from John Oxley Reserve).  There is a tyre place on the corner.  Follow the road in and you will find us.  If you get lost just call me on 0409 002 082

SATURDAY
Beginner Session 2.30pm North Lakes Pool.  Swim / bike – windtrainer / run.  For details or information contact Dave on 0420 363 660

SUNDAY
Brick session Mooloolaba 5am. Leave the CC at North Lakes at 5am to ride up to Mool (this time meeting up there at The Spit) followed by the Sunnie Coast ½ Marathon for those doing that, or a suitable run for the others.  More details to follow with Jules.

Brick session Suttons Beach 6.30am.  Suitable for both long and short course / beginners and Noosa people.  If you have a wetsuit you will be swimming as well, if no wetsuit then you will do a ride / run.

6am Sunday Ride is back on this week.  Leaving Suttons Beach at 6am

BEGINNER RUN INTO BRIBIE 1.

BRIBIE BOLT
There is a 5km fun run at 7am from the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club this Saturday 24th August.  A great opportunity to ride up there and do the bolt and ride back.  We have a number of RTC members who are lifesavers at this club and they provide a vital service for all.  For details email bribiesc@bigpond.com or Scratcha 0418 158 530

AGM WED 28TH AUG 7.15PM – 8.30PM
The AGM will be held at Entire Health North Lakes (above theNorth Lakes Tavern).  Everyone is invited for an evening of yearly reports, elections and socialising.  All positions will be vacated and re-voted from nominations received prior to the meeting.  If no nominations are received for a position then nominations will be taken from the floor.  Nominations can be submitted to secretary@redcliffetriclub.com

INFO NIGHTS – the next in our series of info nights will be a Garmin Info Night on Wed 11th Sept, 7pm.  Venue tba.  Come along and find out all the wonderful things your Garmin can do to tell you how great your training is going! Everyone welcome

IM INFO NIGHT – This year we have over 60 RTC athletes competing in one of the IM races during the season.  We will be having 2 information nights for these athletes to help you meet the others, talk over some basic information you need to know, training outlines and ideas, course information, and what RTC has got planned which includes a camp especially for IM competitors on the first weekend in January.  The dates for these nights are Wed 25th Sept, with a second IM night on Fri 4th Oct (for those who can’t make a Wed night).  We will also hold a night for partners of those doing IM to help meet others in the same boat, explain what the heck is going on, and offer practical options / ideas to survive their training.  The meetings should take no longer than 75 mins with time to ask questions at the end.  These are designed to give you all you need to know, but rather give you some ideas, concepts and outlines to help you plan your training and hopefully meet up with some others that can become your long course training buddies.   Even if you have done IM before this meeting is for you.
