RTC 2XU compression store

2xuheader

Hi all,

We have just set up an online 2XU store with some compression gear 30% off retail price at https://clubs.2xuteamwear.com/redcliffetriclub. The online store password is redcliffetriclub

The great thing about this store is you get to buy the best compression gear there is at a good price, plus 10% of everything you spend the club receives back to use to buy 2XU gear for prizes for presentation night, or the MBGP or anything else.

Have a look and let me know if there is any more 2XU products you would like and I will see if they can be added to the store.

James.

RTC Club Champs points update

Hi all,
Heading into the final race of the RTC Club Champs, here is an update on the leaders. Just to recap, we created a RTC Club Champs series this year to align with the TQ Club Champs to encourage participation plus the Moreton Bay Grand Prix. Just like the other RTC awards, there will be a male and female under and over 40 award presented on presentation night, June 28. The races in the series are the TQ Duathlon (10/40/5), the TQ OD race (1500/40/10), the Tre-X off road tri (500/15/6), the TQ Aquathlon (2.5/1/2.5), the TQ Sprint tri (750/20/5) and the MBGP (2/9/1.5/9/1.5). 10 points for the RTC winner, 9 points for second, 8 for third down to 1 point for tenth.
In the under 40 females, the RTC girls stayed away from the duathlon, od, aquathlon and tre-x races and saved themselves for the TQ sprint race, so leading is Aurora K-P with 10 points, second is Claire Ivey with 9 points and third is Michelle Ryan with 8 points.
In the under 40 males Clinton Millar is smashing the opposition with 35 points, in second we have Braelan Renton with 19 points and tied for third with 10 points is Rob Tabuteau and Max Rose.
In the over 40 females Kirstin Leech is out in front with 26 points, Nana is second with 11 points and third is Michelle Gemmell with 10 points. Here it gets interesting, as tied with 9 points in forth is our two super coaches Mary and Jules, so it could be on between these two at the MBGP.
In the over 40 males Simon Nendick is dominating with a perfect 50 out of 50 points, Simon is 5 wins out of 5 races so far, can he make it 6 out of 6 at the MBGP? There is daylight to second so you old guys are fighting it out for the minor placings now. In second is Craig Lee with 15 points and tied for third with 9 points is Steve Pearson and Jason Murphy.
If you think I have missed you out, please contact me. I have been using the results supplied by TQ with the people who listed RTC on the event registrations.
It’s not too late to make a late charge up the leader board as the MBGP will have double points on offer and in the event of a tie, the placing at the MBGP will be used to break the tie.
If you haven’t entered the MBGP yet, enter now at: https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=12063
As always, give me a call with any questions,
James

Moreton Bay Grand Prix – June 14

Hi all,

It’s just 3 and a bit weeks until the Moreton Bay Grand Prix, on June 14. This is a really fun Duathlon organised by our club and is held at Lakeside Raceway.

It’s the same distances as last year – short course is 2/7/1.5 and long course is 2/9/1.5/9/1.5. We have made a few changes this year, we are racing on a Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday morning and we have added an Enduro category where you can do both the short and long course events and your two times are added together to determine your overall race time.

The two races are held with enough time between them to allow parents to each do an event. After the long course and while we are working out all the places, Mary will run an unsanctioned Duathlon for the children of RTC up and down the Pits and this is always a lot of fun.

Thanks to our event supporters – Avantiplus North Brisbane, The Run Inn, ASICS and Endura, we will have lots of prizes and thanks to our major supporter, the Moreton Bay Regional Council, there is a heap of cash to be won.

Entries are open at: https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=12063

We would love some people to help out on the day with setting and packing up, this takes about an hour. We would also like some help during the events and we are lucky with holding a race on a closed racetrack that we do not need many people to help, so you can race one event and help out with the other. Please contact me at president@redcliffetriclub.com if you can help on the day.

The other way you can help out is to help us with promotion of the race by sharing the Facebook event- https://www.facebook.com/events/495195983922745/ on your wall please and posting the event to all your friends’ walls.

To assist with race preparation, Mary will be holding a brick session at Lakeside this Sunday at 6am.

Below is the race information, please contact me with any questions. I hope to see lots of you at Lakeside on June 14.

RTC update

Hi all,

We have a massive weekend approaching for the club. With 46 members competing at Port Ironman, this will be by far the largest RTC contingent at any Ironman in the club’s twenty-four year history. 46 is an amazing number of people from one club and that is only a handful short of the number of competitors from PIS and TOSS. On the topic of club acronyms, there has been a suggestion from our friends in the south that we could change our club name for the weekend from Redcliffe Tri Club to Redcliffe Organisation of Triathlon or Redcliffe Organisation of Triathlon Exercise Department depending on how you are feeling during and after the race, any other suggestions? The club would like to wish you all competing a great day and we are all going to be supporting you whether in person down at Port or in spirit from home. We would also like to wish your supporters a great day and we hope you do a great job upholding the club’s reputation by being loud and proud and keep us all updated with Facebook posts and photos please. For all you FB, Twitter and Instagram cool people, can you please tag all your posts and photos with #rtcportim so we can have a collection of all your posts.

And the other huge event this weekend is the TQ Family Fun Day at Roma Street Parklands at 11 am on Saturday. This was a fun day last year, so please come along. We will have a club tent and if someone would like to take a BBQ, I will bring everything else for lunch, or they have lots of food for sale there. Please email me if you can bring a BBQ. Mary has been nominated for Club Coach of the Year and we have three members in the draw to win a new car so good luck to you all.

A few days after the TQ Sprint race at Clontarf, I received a very pleasing email, which is a great testament to our club, members and values:

To whom it may concern,

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and your club on having such a wonderful contingent of athletes.
I participate in a number of events, and was a volunteer at the triathlon up at Redcliffe on the weekend.  I was thoroughly impressed by the number of Redcliffe Tri Club athletes that said thank you to me (and other volunteers) while they were in the middle of their events.  I especially want to mention a gentleman who spoke up when another athlete (not from your club) was quite rude to volunteers during the run leg; I am unsure of who he was but was easily identified by his triathlon suit as part of your club.
You obviously promote a positive club culture with a fabulous group of athletes; so thank you and well done.

Kind regards,

Tiffany Dahl

After we have recovered from this weekend, it will not be long until our club race, the Moreton Bay Grand Prix on June 14. This will be the third year we have organised this race at Lakeside Raceway and the first two were really fun events. This year we have made a few changes with holding it on a Saturday afternoon instead on Sunday morning and we have added the Enduro category. All the event info is on the RTC Facebook events page at https://www.facebook.com/events/495195983922745/ . Just look for the photo of Tom looking like he is about to vomit as Marcus chases him across the finish line. And entries are now open at https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=12063 .

Thanks to our club’s sponsors- ASICS, The Run Inn, Avantiplus North Brisbane, Jetts Fitness, Endura, and Entire Health we will have heaps of prizes on offer and for the fast people thanks to Moreton Bay Regional Council, there is $2000 in cash to be won. Mary will once again be running a race for all our children around the PITS and the two duathlons will be spaced out enough for parents to be able to compete and have time to between events to hand over the children.

If you are unsure about running and riding around Lakeside and did not attend the training session there on Sunday, we will be holding another brick session on Sunday morning May 25th at 6am.

I would love for you all now to enter the race and also if you are on Facebook or Twitter, can you please share the event so all your friends can enter as well, thank you.

Once again, I hope you all have a great weekend at Port racing and supporting and I hope to see everyone else at Roma Street Parklands on Saturday.

RTC welcomes new bike shop sponsor

Hi all,

After six years of great support, Matt, Mel and Avantiplus The Valley have made a business decision to step away from the Redcliffe Tri Club. The entire club has benefited greatly from their support and we were very sorry to loose them as a club sponsor. Matt and Mel not only support our club, but many other tri clubs and the sport in general and there are not many races in Southeast Qld where we do not see that support. From the whole club I would like to thank you Matt and Mel for your sponsorship over a long time.

After hearing this news, the club set out to find another bike shop to work with and I know we have found a great business who will support us and our club members can really gain a lot from. I am very pleased to welcome Howard, Judy and Avantiplus North Brisbane as new sponsors of RTC.

Avantiplus North Brisbane have been around for a long time and have recently moved from Albany Creek to Brendale on the corner of South Pine Road and Deakin Street into a huge shop with everything a cyclist would want, including a coffee shop. If you have not seen the new shop, I would recommend you checking it out.

Avantiplus North Brisbane are offering RTC members:

  • 15% discount on bike and product purchases and servicing;
  • A $50 discounted bike fitting in their new fit studio using video camera and computer analysis of your bike position, $159 for road bikes and $199 for TT bikes;
  • Specific Demo Days at the new store in Brendale for RTC members to test ride bikes;
  • Lots of prizes for our presentation night;
  • Exclusive RTC bike specials, two are on the RTC web page and RTC Facebook page now; and
  • A presence (mechanic, tent and stand) for a minimum of 5 brick sessions at Sutton’s Beach throughout the year. This is an opportunity to check gear and keep athletes safe on the road (at no cost). For bikes requiring more than a basic “look over”… Avantiplus North Brisbane will transport (at no cost) up to 8 bikes back to the store in Brendale where they can be serviced properly and picked up within 48hours (service fee only + parts applies).

Avantiplus North Brisbane also has their own shop rides throughout the week and they have invited all RTC members to join them. Our own Ironman Dan also runs Wind Trainer sessions at the shop in the evenings and we are also welcomed to attend these. We will include all of these sessions on our monthly training calendars.

I am very excited with this new partnership, as Avantiplus North Brisbane is a fantastic bike shop close to where we all live owed by passionate cycling people who really want to help our club members. Howard and Judy are very happy to take feedback from us on products we would like them to have on their shelves and services they can offer us.

I would like to thank Jerrod and Jules for their assistance with setting this new sponsorship up. Jerrod is working in the shop a few days a week and if you are lucky to go there on one of his days he will give you a tour.

If you did not see the two RTC special Avantiplus North Brisbane are offering us currently, they are:
